Welcome to the Shields American Legion Post # 314.
The American Legion was founded in 1919 and is the oldest veterans organization in America.
Our post was organized October 2003.

Fifteen members started the post.
Since that time the post has grown to 21 members.
Members reside is Thomas, James, and Swan Creek Townships, parts of Saginaw Township and
Hemlock.
By summer 2005 post membership is expected to exceed 40.

June 25, 1950 - January 31, 1955
December 7, 1941 - December 31, 1946

11, 1918

Any veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States that served one day of active duty, while on active
duty, or in the reserves or National Guard, and was honorably discharged or is still serving, during the
elibility period is eligible for membership in the post. Merchant Marines from World War II may be eligible also.

The post works to promote Patriotism and Americanism in the community, to assist in the education
of our children, and to assist all veterans needs.
